Week 88 - 3/4/13

Pretty good week.

Tuesday. We did exchanges with a companionship. It was good. I went with the district leader.

Wednesday. District meeting. Then just regular work.

Thursday. Normal day.

Friday. We had a conference with Elder Johnson (not my old comp haha) he is a 70. We talked about a lot of things but some of the things that stuck out the most to me is he said the church has no need for supers. Sometimes there are super bishops, super stake presidents, or even super missionaries. But this doesn’t help the church have real growth. When a leader is super and visits everyone and fixes all the problems and makes the ward grow and he actives everyone, when he leaves it goes right back to how it was before he was there. If a leader does the work of someone that is under his leadership he is basically releasing him. The church needs leaders that can train all the people under them to do the work so the ward isn’t dependent on just one person whether it be the bishop, the missionaries or whoever else.

Another thing he talked about was our attitude with problems if our wards aren’t working good or if there isn’t a lot of work or whatever it might be. He shared with us the example of Ammon and when he went to teach the Lamanites. When all the problems happened - at first tied up, then the scattered animals and then they tried to attack him. His thoughts were in the words of Elder Johnson "QUE BUENO" haha, now it’s my chance to show that I’m a servant of the Lord. He said that whenever there are problems we should think QUE BUENO we can help and show this ward that we are true representatives of Jesus Christ. Every problem is a chance to exercise our faith and our ability to show what type of follower of Christ we are.

He said that if we truly loved our converts, we would help fix the wards we are in or they will all go inactive. He said "it not your responsibility, but why not?"

Pretty good conference.

Saturday. Zone leader conference again with Elder Johnson. But it was just all the zone leaders so it was much more up close and personal. haha He went over a lot of the things that we talked about in the first. He talked to us about how we can help fix the ward. He talked about how important it was that the converts receive the missionary lessons again. But he explained the ward should give these lesson and we should make sure they receive them without our actually doing it ourselves.

He explained the QUE BUENO idea again. Me and my companion have been joking around about it but it actually helps. The appointment fell through QUE BUENO we can find some who need the message more. The less active isn’t coming to church QUE BUENO we are missionaries and we can change their life. The food made me stomach sick QUE BUENO because... ugh, well got to think a bit more on how that’s a good thing haha.

He then changes the theme to something else. He read in alma 23

For they became a righteous people; they did lay down the weapons of their rebellion, that they did not fight against God any more, neither against any of their brethren.

He invited us to lay down our weapons of our rebellion and fix anything that we are doing that is limiting our progress. President told us to ask ourselves these questions.

What am I doing that I have to stop doing?
What am I doing that I should keep doing?
What am I not doing that I should start to do?

Very spiritual conference. Nothing like having a 70 tell you how to work.

And Sister Reeves dinner was by far the best dinner have eaten since... well I was secretary and at in the mission house a lot haha.

Ok that’s my week love you all.
